It develops skills in examining quality, reporting on products, as well as using systems to identify and locate products and following security procedures
Safety is paramount in every industry, especially in Warehousing and Logistics. This Subject provides the skills and knowledge required to work in a healthy and safe manner. You will learn to recognise hazards, the importance of safety signs and how to raise safety issues within a warehouse or logistics workplace. This is a great entry level Subject to help you respond to emergency incidents and use manual handling techniques safely.
This subject addresses the foundation skills and knowledge required to work effectively in a logistics, store or warehouse environment. This includes a focus on using quality methods designed to ensure customer satisfaction for internal and external stakeholders across chain management. Awareness of key job responsibilities in warehousing and logistics and being able to organise personal work priorities are essential job skills. A number of practical workplace activities are undertaken and used as assessment evidence to ensure the new employee gets started in the right way.
Any person who has some role in the transport and storage of goods (called the Supply Chain) is responsible for safety. This requires having the skills to identify and manage fatigue; determine and calculate load mass; and ensure compliance with vehicle and storage limits. This is a key Subject to ensure you are aware of your legal obligations and practical ways to meet them.
The prompt despatch of orders is a key requirement in any warehouse. This subject looks at how to consolidate manifest documents and organise despatch operations. The accurate completion of key despatch documentation is also addressed.
Receival operations involves planning and organising receival operations, storing received stock and completing all required documentation and records. Receiving of goods to replenish stock requires awareness of: product storage requirements; what to look for when checking and inspecting goods on arrival; and completing receival documentation. This subject also looks at unloading, unpacking and storing protocols.
Customer Service is a key function in all Supply Chain job roles. This Subject will deliver the skills needed to identify internal customers needs and deliver strong customer service. This includes practical service skills with emphasis on customers with special needs, working in a culturally diverse workplace and effective complaint handling skills.
This subject looks at the range of documents that have roles in a warehouse and logistics environment and the quality systems that apply. Documents include workplace documents, employment documents and delivery and despatch documents. Assessment is undertaken across the whole period of the course with examination of the different documents applicable to earlier subjects.
This subject looks at the business processes and procedures behind baggage handling such as moving baggage both manually and mechanically using a conveyor belt system. Work placement in a suitable environment is needed. In addition the skills to ensure security of goods and to identify and action security threats are addressed by this subject.
