    Ethics, compliance and risk, form the foundation of financial institutions. This subject discusses the skills required to apply ethical principles to decision making and to act in line with ethical principles, and to ensure that work practices are compliant and within business risk strategies. Case studies are used to show individuals how to apply ethical frameworks to decide on, carry out, and evaluate the effectiveness of a course of action in response to an ethical and compliance situation in their workplace.

    The skills and knowledge required to run a business operation and the steps required to develop and implement a business plan are covered in this subject. Integrated into this are the techniques behind operational planning to ensure the availability of key business resource requirements.

  • Evaluate Marketing Opportunities in Financial Services

    This subject covers the skills and knowledge required to evaluate market data, define new and emerging market trends in financial services and assess the viability of new product development to take advantage of marketing opportunities. It promotes a systematic approach and the use of analytical skills as well as looks at the compliance factors of marketing and selling financial services.

    This subject examines industry professional approaches to procedures, guidelines, policies and standards, including ethical requirements, and the requirements to model and meet expectations of these in all aspects of work.

  • Build an Effective and Motivated Team (E)

    The need to build positive workplace relationships applies to team leaders, supervisors and new or emerging managers where leadership plays a role in developing and maintaining effective workplace relationships. A range of skills and knowledge is required by leaders to promote team cohesion. It includes motivating, mentoring, coaching and developing the team and forming the bridge between the management of the organisation and team members. High level and influential communication skills are also critical.

Course Duration

24 months is allowed as the standard part time enrolment term for the Advanced Diploma of Banking Services Management course.

Students who are able to commit more time to their course can finish earlier; while Traineeship terms may be longer.

Entry Requirements

for the Advanced Diploma of Banking Services Management

  • Students who do not have any background in banking or finance should not enroll directly into this qualification. A minimum 3 years of experience is required and should include exposure to senior management roles or product sales management or a relevant Diploma level qualification. Subjects require a higher level of detail in responses and independent research is required
  • Prior Diploma level studies
    It is recommended that you have prior Diploma level qualifications; and as a minimum Certificate IV level qualifications.
  • Past Work Background
    This qualification is not suited to people who do not have a past or current work background in banking or finance. A minimum of 3 years experience is required and in addition this should include an exposure to products sales management. Completion of the Diploma level qualification is also advised.
  • Reading and Writing Skills
    The course is an online correspondence course so you need to have strong English reading and writing skills, or higher. As a guide - you should have completed a formal course after having completed Year 12 schooling, or have proven workplace written communication skills.
  • Spoken English Skills
    The course has practical components where students will be required to demonstrate persuasive verbal communication and rapport building skills. Above average to strong spoken English skills are necessary to complete these components successfully.
  • Numeracy Skills
    Numeracy skills are required at an average level eg completion of Year 10 maths and the ability to use a calculator.
  • Computer and Internet
    • Access to a Desktop Computer or Laptop; some course work may be completed via mobile devices
    • Internet access with Internet Explorer 8+, Chrome or Firefox
    • Microsoft Office 2010 Word and Subject specific Office products for chosen electives (ie Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher)
