Ethics, compliance and risk, form the foundation of financial institutions. This subject discusses the skills required to apply ethical principles to decision making and to act in line with ethical principles, and to ensure that work practices are compliant and within business risk strategies. Case studies are used to show individuals how to apply ethical frameworks to decide on, carry out, and evaluate the effectiveness of a course of action in response to an ethical and compliance situation in their workplace.
This subject covers the skills and knowledge required to evaluate market data, define new and emerging market trends in financial services and assess the viability of new product development to take advantage of marketing opportunities. It promotes a systematic approach and the use of analytical skills as well as looks at the compliance factors of marketing and selling financial services.
Change affects most organisations. However organisations have historically been poor at managing change. This can lead to the gains from the changes not being fully realised and staff becoming disengaged. This subject looks at the people and process side of implementing change.
This subject examines industry professional approaches to procedures, guidelines, policies and standards, including ethical requirements, and the requirements to model and meet expectations of these in all aspects of work.
The need to build positive workplace relationships applies to team leaders, supervisors and new or emerging managers where leadership plays a role in developing and maintaining effective workplace relationships. A range of skills and knowledge is required by leaders to promote team cohesion. It includes motivating, mentoring, coaching and developing the team and forming the bridge between the management of the organisation and team members. High level and influential communication skills are also critical.
The skills and knowledge required to run a business operation such as a business unit and the steps required to develop and implement an operational plan are covered in this subject. A key element is the requirement to develop and revise budgets and have a financial plan that supports the operational plan. Integrated into this are the techniques behind operational planning to ensure the effective recruitment and management of staff.
